Who’s excited about the upcoming first issue of C U R I O U S magazine? We know we are… and we’re very excited about the amazing contributors that are helping the content shape up into a really amazing publication. We’ve recruited the super talented Sebastian Peters to write a regular column for us, so we thought you’d like the opportunity to get to know a little bit about him and his work in advance. As always, be sure to check out his Instagram and show some <3
It’s only been just over a year since I started practicing street photography, but it’s caused a huge lifestyle change – I now spend as much time as possible on the street with my camera. I’m based in Bristol, UK, and street photography has been my way of exploring and getting to know the city I’m making a home in (ongoing Bristol series over at sebjjp.com).
I like to think that my current style is more focused on scenes, rather than characters – to me, street photography is the practice of patient, thoughtful, curious exploration – ready to be surprised and delighted around every corner. There are few things that give me the feeling I get from walking through the city in the early hours of the morning, mist over the river and sun coming through buildings. In the last few years I’ve worked on games, in musician documentaries and as a writer, but photography is where I see myself going, long term.
The practice has changed the way I see the world around me, whether I have a camera in hand or not. I’m looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned (professionally and personally) about street photography, and couldn’t think of a better bunch to do it alongside.
